NIC Student Hamad Raheem has Paper Published in Journal

Wed, 12 January, 2022

Non-Metallic Innovation Centre student, Hamad Raheem has had a paper published by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

The paper, ‘Resonant Coupling of Piezoelectric Micromachined Ultrasound Transducers with Polymer Specimens in Different Media,’ which was co-authored with Ashwin Seshia of the University of Cambridge and Bernadette Craster of TWI Ltd, investigates the ageing of thermoplastic materials due to chemicals (H2S, CO2 and aromatic hydrocarbons), pressure and thermal loading.

A method for the non-destructive assessment of polymeric materials as they age during fluid exposure is necessary. The research project detailed in the paper involved embedding a sensor to assess and track any alterations in the material properties or failure when exposed to chemical and thermal conditions.

We would like to congratulate Hamad on the publication of the paper, which you can see at the IEEE website here.
