TWI Expert to Present at AMI Oil and Gas Event

Wed, 18 August, 2021

TWI composites expert Chris Worrall is set to speak at AMI’s sixth annual Oil and Gas Non-Metallics conference at the Hilton London Bankside from 26-27 October 2021. Chris will present on recent work carried out by the Non-Metallic Innovation Centre (NIC) on the development of novel joining techniques for thermoset composite pipes.

Taking the theme ‘Identifying and exploiting opportunities for polymer materials in onshore and offshore oil and gas engineering,’ the international event is the leading networking and learning forum for suppliers of polymer-based products and solutions for the Oil and Gas industry.

The event will focus on energy transition and the shift towards digitalisation as well as the need of the industry to control costs in terms of infrastructure and equipment investment, installation and maintenance. It will also look at minimising risk during the development, qualification and application of new non-metallic materials and components.

Covering the full range of oilfield engineering non-metallic materials, including polymer composites, thermoset resins, thermoplastics and elastomers, focus areas include material solutions for challenging drilling environments with high levels of sour gas, deep water offshore production, high pressure and temperature operation (HPHT) and exposure to ice and abrasive conditions.

The event will also include a new interactive panel discussion and a session dedicated to the energy transition shift, to explore the challenges and opportunities this brings and how businesses are already adopting alternative solutions.

Aside from the formal presentations, there will be networking opportunities for attendees wishing to extend their contacts and discuss the new trends in the market and technology.

Speaking about the event, Chris said, “This is a great opportunity to present on behalf of the NIC at such an important conference. Not only will it advertise the excellent work being carried out at the NIC but also demonstrate TWI’s expertise and innovation in the field of composites and composite joining.”
