NIC Establishes Associate Scheme for the Oil and Gas Sector

Tue, 20 April, 2021

The Non-metallic Innovation Centre (NIC) is set to extend its reach with the introduction of a new Associate scheme for like-minded companies and organisations in the oil and gas sector.

The NIC delivers research and innovation projects covering all Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs) in conjunction with partners drawn from academic institutions, research centres, oil and gas companies, composite pipe manufacturers and materials manufacturers.  It has two primary objectives: to promote innovation through disruptive technology and to support the cost effective commercialisation of innovative, non-metallic products.

NIC Associates can expect to derive a number of benefits from joining the Centre including opportunities to: tackle common challenges in oil and gas, and obtain support with the development of new non-metallic pipes as well as simulation tools that reduce the cost of designing new products.  NIC Associates will also benefit from interaction with TWI’s technical experts in the field of non-metallics.

Companies who are interested in joining the NIC Associate scheme are invited to email to enquiries@non-metallic.com.

Mihalis Kazilas, NIC Programme Director said “Since its establishment in 2018, NIC has gone from strength to strength, based on the many years’ combined experience of the Centre’s three founding partners in oil and gas, and their shared vision to expand the operational envelope of non-metallic pipes.” “This latest initiative is designed to accelerate innovation further through the oil and gas supply chain, providing an environment in which companies and organisations can team up with the NIC, try out new ideas for non-metallic pipes via shared activities, and contribute to speeding up the commercialisation process for composite pipes and pipelines.” he added.
