Thu, 15 June, 2023

A recording of our recent webinar about coatings for the hydrogen economy is now available to view online.

The online event, ‘Emerging Challenges and Opportunities: Coatings for the Hydrogen Economy,’ took place on 7 June, with 200 attendees joining us from 36 different countries.

The popular and engaging online event investigated the evolving landscape of energy transition with a focus on the crucial role of protective and barrier coatings in enabling the efficient and safe utilisation of hydrogen.

During the webinar, attendees were presented with a comprehensive overview of recent developments in coatings technology tailored to the needs of the hydrogen economy.

Expert speaker, TWI Technology Fellow, Dr Alan Taylor, highlighted the critical role of coatings in ensuring the durability, safety, and efficiency of infrastructure, storage systems, and transportation facilities associated with hydrogen production, distribution, and utilisation.

Dr Taylor also emphasised the challenges that arise as hydrogen technologies progress from research and development to industrial adoption and scale-up.

The webinar and its Q&A session was hosted by TWI Project Manager and Brunel Composites Centre Senior Research Fellow, Dr Sadik Omairey.
