Meet the NIC at Polymer Engineering for Energy Conference

Wed, 15 November, 2023

Representatives of the Non-Metallic Innovation Centre (NIC) are due to attend the upcoming AMI event, ‘Polymer Engineering for Energy,’ which is taking place at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel in London, UK, on 5-6 December 2023. The NIC will be manning a stand during the event and our experts will also be presenting.

Representing the NIC sponsor, TWI, Conor Raferty will deliver a presentation titled, ‘Transport of sour gases through PE-RT and multilayer systems in the presence of hydrocarbons - new methodologies and data treatment.’ While TWI Technology Fellow, Alan Taylor, will sit in the panel discussion on the future for fluoroelastomers and addressing the potential PFAS restrictions.

Additionally, NIC’s sponsors ADNOC will be represented by Raymond Burke, Vice President, Technologies (Drilling and Decarbonisation Technologies), specifically on operators’ perspectives and latest updates and what’s on the horizon for the non-metallics.

On the other hand, there will be presentations and participation at the event from the following NIC Associates and network:

  • Scott Pisarik, Lead Materials and Corrosion Engineer, Chevron
  • Ahmed Hammami, Principal Polymer Scientist, Composites Flexpipe, a division of Mattr (formerly Shawcor)
  • Nicola Ranieri, Customer Technical Development EMEA, Solvay
  • Carsten Schütt, Technology Leader Industrial and Energy, Evonik
  • Tom Byrne, Vice President Sales Global Marine, Offshore and Subsea, NOV Fiber Glass Systems

About the Polymer Engineering for Energy Conference

This year’s event expands on the AMI’s previous ‘Oil and Gas Non-Metallics’ events, demonstrating the increasing diversification of this international conference.

Established as one of the leading learning and networking forums for suppliers of polymer-based products and solutions for the energy sector, attendees at the conference will be able to hear from a range of experts about polymer composites, thermoset resins, thermoplastics, elastomers and more.

As the need for material solutions for challenging environments expands, operators push the envelope for materials durability in increasingly harsh conditions, including increasing levels of sour gas and CO2, deep water offshore production, high pressure and temperature operation (HPHT) and exposure to ice and abrasive conditions.

Alongside the formal presentations and lively panel debates, those attending the conference will be able to network to discuss market and technology trends during informal sessions, B2B meetings and an informal drinks reception at the end of the first day of the conference.

We look forward to meeting you at the conference and you can find out more about this AMI event, here.
